D: I really liked the chasing patterns you did with the horns and winds. I felt like there was a lot to play with in the recordings. Also the song was short, so I figured I could expand on a few of the ideas. It might be one of the lesser known songs on the album but sometimes it’s easier to remix songs that you don’t know as well. It’s hard for me to hear “Flickers” any other way than the way it is for instance.

I used a lot of delay in this one. I washed out the horns and winds with delay so it turned into a wall of 32nd notes that then fed into a slowly modulating low-pass Moog filter from UAD to give it some more life. I then distorted the crap out of your kick drum using a plugin called “Devastor” and that became the driving element in the beat sections, along with a compressed and distorted version of your drummer playing 32nd notes on drum hardware (that drummer is shit-hot btw).

Well that changes week-to-week but right now I’m playing a lot of Robot Koch’s new record. The Drive Soundtrack is cool - I like Cliff Martinez’s scores a lot. Oh, and The Meters “Just Kissed My Baby” - I’m teaching myself the drum part.
